Bike Prom 2012

Love was in the air at last night's Bike Prom- bike love, that is. After a taffeta and tuxedo clad ride from downtown, we gathered at Good Life to dance the night away. The place was bustling with energy and packed with folks wearing incredible promwear celebrating every era.

Group jump shot- woo!

A few more stylish attendees

We got to chat with a few of the lovely prom goers:

Melissa and Paula (left to right)

What do you like best about travelling in your city?

Melissa: I love biking along the river trails. I also love that biking is such a social event and I end up visiting with people wherever I go. Lastly, it feels good to do and keeps me fit.

Paula: I really enjoy my commute to work, which is 90% along the pathways. This way, I don't have to deal with traffic. Plus, the ride just makes my day go much better!

What do you never leave home without?

Melissa: My cellphone.

Paula: My bike lock key for my wheel lock.

Fran - Good Life summer student.

By the way, Fran let us know that she wore this dress to her grade 9 grad. We are impressed!

What do you like best about travelling in your city?

As someone who hates driving, I like that I can bike almost anywhere along the path system. It allows me to get outside. I also like that Calgary is not a particularly rainy city (with the exception of this month!).

What do you never leave home without?

My glasses! I also bring $2.75 everywhere I go in case I need to catch a train or bus.

What is your philosophy?

Do what makes you happy. In the short and the long term.

We definitely had a better time than at our own prom...and we're betting you did too! Vive le velo!
